I chose the song "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett because it is definitely a song that one must turn up in order to rock out properly. Frankly, usually when I think of rocking out, I think about late 1970s and early 1980s punk rock. The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Misfits, The Runaways, Johnny Thunders, The New York Dolls, you know, all that. When it came to this contest and choosing a song to create an image for, "Bad Reputation" just seemed obvious, and this is the sort of thing that I think of when I hear it: a punked out, no-nonsense, hard-core girl who could kick your ass. Coz she just doesn't give a damn. She is a totally original creation by me for this contest. One of the rules was "no fan art," so this is a tad outside what I would consider to be my comfort zone.
The Brick Wall (tm) is one of my standard Backgrounds For Dummies (tm), but from the start I thought it would be perfect for this pic. A graffiti strewn alley just seemed like the sort of spot one would stumble upon such a "charming" young lady.
Pencils and Micron inks on paper. retouch, colours, background and effects in Adobe Photoshop 7.
