About a week or so ago, one of my online pals posted a comic she had started that was all about princesses battling each other to the death. When she said she was looking for interested parties to suggest their own princesses, I was immediately intrigued.

Normally my knee jerk reaction to designing ladies goes in the direction of the gothic and medieval European. I blame this Chinese design on the fact that I have been rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender
lately on account of it being awesome. The idea for fans more than likely therefore came from the Kyoshi Warriors, whom I love to pieces. I also thought that fan dancing is an ancient and beautiful tradition, and when called upon to do battle, it would not be too great of a leap to move into kung fu fan fighting. I'm thinking the outer edge of the fans have a metal edge which could be sharpened. I also gave her a couple of stiletto blades in her chignons for use as weapons in a pinch. Yeah, I know the traditional Chinese long dress and such may not be relatively conductive to effective combat, but the average princess fancy garb really isn't.
Of course, this pic is really just a character design for ~rachelthegreat. She can modify it for use in her comic however she sees fit (if she even chooses to use it).
